The attitude of lawmakers who abstain from repressing abortion is always invoked to make an impression on other legislators. The latter are then inclined to attack the pro-life lawmaker in the evaluation of circumstances.

Furthermore, the pro-abortion legislator does not stop at mere verbal attack: he/she often insists that the pro-life lawmaker suspends his or her activities.

Thus legislation on abortion can demonstrate real danger to free, open and responsible democratic procedures.
